NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. -- Merrimack hockey makes the move to Teamline for its free online Internet audio broadcasts for the 2004-05 season.
"We're very excited to have signed up with Teamline this year," said Tom O'Brien, Assistant Director of Athletics at Merrimack. "It's a great opportunity for us to get our program out on the World Wide Web. People can listen to it all over the world.
"They've had a strong reputation for doing this type of business and working with colleges, so we're very excited to have a partnership with Teamline."
Fans wishing to listen can visit the Merrimack Teamline page to tune in and for more information. To listen, you will need to have the latest version of Windows Media Player installed. The software is free and available for both Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
Although the access method has changed, the broadcasts themselves will still sound familiar to Warrior fans, as Don Boyle returns to do play-by-play with Mike Machnik on color.
"We're also very happy to still have Don and Mike working with us doing our broadcasts this year," said O'Brien. "They've done a fabulous job for us for the last couple of years, and we know they're going to continue their great work with us."
As part of the package, for the first time ever, the Warriors' season-opening exhibition will be aired live, Sat. Oct. 2 against St. Thomas. Game time is 7:00 p.m., with the pre-game show beginning at 6:45.
All but two of the team's 37 exhibition and regular season games in 2004-05 are slated for live broadcast. There will be no broadcast for the two games at the Maverick Stampede on Oct. 9-10, but broadcasts resume on Oct. 15 for the Hockey East opener at Providence and will continue through the remainder of the season and playoffs.
Teamline began in 1990 as a telephone-based service and has since expanded to include internet audio, wireless media, web development, conferencing, and cellular audio services. The company has served more than 600 clients including the Cape Cod Baseball League, the U.S. National Junior Hockey Team, and hundreds of college, university and professional teams.
