Late news -- the MC alums finished second this year, falling in the final, 10-8, to another collection of former college players, the New York Boars.

http://sports.canadaeast.com/article/956649

They allowed one sub this year, so 5 alums were on the team this time around -- Atkinson, Beck, Cornforth, Goble & Naylor.

Congratulations on another great run! 4 firsts and one second is a pretty good record.

Bruce Crowder's son Scott (UMass) has a new tournament this year in Meredith NH on the lake. It looks like it's well-backed:

Ya, during the NESN documentary that was on last year or the year before I think Cornforth talked about enjoying having his brother on the team.

Danglers return to World Pond Hockey Championships!

The Boston Danglers are on the list of teams taking part in the 2010 World Pond Hockey Championships!

http://www.worldpondhockey.com/

Feb. 11-14 in New Brunswick.

The Boston Danglers are the legendary four-time World Pond Hockey Champions from 2004-07. Not everyone here may know but -- the four-man team is comprised of all Merrimack alumni.

Rob Atkinson, Mark Cornforth, Mark Goble and Cooper Naylor all played for the Warriors in the early to mid 90s. Naylor was replaced by another MC alum, Rob Beck, in the Danglers' 2007 title run.

In 2008, the team's name was changed to Easton Express -- I believe when it was no longer all MC alums. The Express fell in the final in 2008 and I believe in the semifinals in 2009.

But, it looks like the Danglers have returned, so I am guessing this may mean a return to the original lineup (or with Beck). Hopefully they will bring home the title again!
