I'm not surprised that Wisconsin has no respect for Merrimack, they hardly even know who we are, being a Hockey East school that's not BU or BC. I am SURE the coaches and players know very well who we are, and how tough this game will be.

One thing the Badgers need to keep in mind is that they will be missing some key players due to the World Juniors tourney...giving us yet another leg up.

Also, if they read the papers out there in Madison, we took down a #7 seed earlier this year (Vermont) so a defeat is not outside the realm of possibility.

"The men's hockey team hosts the Badger Hockey Showdown Saturday-Sunday, Jan. 2-3 in the Kohl Center. UW plays Merrimack Saturday at 7 p.m. and meets the winner of the Ferris State vs. Yale matchup Sunday at 7 p.m. The other two games in the Showdown begin at 4 p.m. each day."

Actually, Wisconsin will only face the winner of Ferris-Yale if Wisconsin wins its own game. Wisconsin is playing the late game both nights because it is hosting the tournament and for attendance reasons (maybe others too), but if it does not win its own game, Wisconsin's game on Sunday will be the consolation game and the championship game of the tournament will be the early game on Sunday.

This happened two years ago in the Showdown when Northeastern won its opening round game and Wisconsin tied Colgate in the nightcap but lost the shootout. NU and Colgate met in the early game the next day and it was the championship.

Hope everyone's Christmas was good. Boy did Santa bring the kids a lot of toys.

Badger Showdown next Saturday-Sunday, who is going? We did see some folks make the trip to North Dakota.

Unfortunately, it does not look like the games are on tv. Wisconsin has a video webcast, and both MC games will also be on 1400 AM and through the athletics site. Sat. vs Wisconsin air time is 7:45 Eastern, and Sunday vs either Ferris or Yale, air time is 4:45 Eastern.
