USA & MC alum Joe Exter win WJHC
In case you were on Mars tonight -- the US beat Canada in OT, 6-5, in Saskatoon tonight to win the World Junior Championship. Ended Canada's streak of five straight and only the second win ever for the US (2004) -- and only the third time ever that the US has beaten Canada in a championship game in international competition (1996 World Cup).
It was a great game -- and nice to see Merrimack alum Joe Exter interviewed between the third period and overtime, Joe was the team's goaltending coach. US goalie Jack Campbell also gave Joe props when he was interviewed on tv after the game.
So that makes Joe the goalie coach of only the second team ever to win gold. Congratulations Joe & USA Hockey! Truly a great, great victory.
